Evacuated tube solar collectors use vacuum as thermal insulation, created between two glass tubes. A highly selective absorbing layer is applied on the inner tube. The heat is then lead via special aluminum lamellas into copper tubes in which the heated fluid flows. Heat losses of tube collectors are thus very little and heat can be gained even at very weak sunshine (cloudy weather - diffused sunshine) and at extreme temperatures (low ambient temperature and high temperature of the heated fluid).
